Caterpillar GC Named "General Counsel of the Year" James B. Buda, general counsel of Caterpillar Inc., has been named "General Counsel of the Year" in the 2008 Global Counsel Awards. The Global Counsel Awards is an international competition run by the International Law Office, a legal newsletter publisher based in London. General Counsel Institute Will Take Place in Early November November 6 and 7 of this year will see the fourth annual General Counsel Institute, a two-day program put on by the National Association of Women Lawyers in New York. This event targets female general counsel who wish to build upon their current skills. You can register at www.nawl.org. Wal-Mart Monitoring Law Firms' Diversity Efforts Wal-Mart is now using software to make sure its outside law firms are using diverse sets of lawyers on its legal matters. This is an example of more effort being put into making sure minorities are actually working on corporate matters. |
