Raytheon Hires New GC Raytheon Technical Services Co., LLC, has hired John M. Mitnick as its new vice president and general counsel. Mitnick, who will lead Raytheon's current legal team, has served in varying roles, including associate counsel to the president of the United States, associate general counsel for the Department of Homeland Security, and counsel to the assistant attorney general at the Department of Justice. Mitnick was once a partner at Kilpatrick Stockton, LLP, and an adjunct professor of law at the Georgia State University College of Law. He received his B.A. in History and Political Science from Emory University, his B.A. in Jurisprudence from Oxford University, and his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. Madison Realty Capital Hires New GC Private commercial lender Madison Realty Capital has hired Eric Scheffler as its new managing director and general counsel. Scheffler, whose responsibilities will include overseeing Madison's loan portfolio, managing the firm's corporate legal strategy, and managing the relationships of Madison's counterparties and borrowers, among others, has worked in the real estate and loan businesses before. Recently, he worked with Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc. as its associate director and in differing real estate roles at Winston & Strawn, Blank Rome Tenzer Greenblatt, LLP, and Scheffler, King & Bender, LLP. He received his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and his B.A. from Colgate University. BB&T Hires New GC Financial holding company BB&T Corp. has hired Frances Jones as its new corporate secretary, chief corporate governance officer, and general counsel. Having joined BB&T in 2001, Jones will leave her current position as associate general counsel and replace M. Patricia Oliver. Jones will begin her responsibilities, which include leading a team of 51 attorneys and legal professionals, on January 2. Previously, she has served in different areas at BB&T; her past roles have included working with BB&T Insurance and BB&T's "Preferred Efficient Partner Network" of outside law firms. She received her government degree from Dartmouth College and her J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School. Peapack-Gladstone Bank Hires New GC Peapack-Gladstone Financial Corporation and Peapack-Gladstone Bank have hired Finn M.W. Caspersen Jr. as the bank's new executive vice president and general counsel. Caspersen's previous roles have included senior vice president and chief corporate risk manager for Peapack-Gladstone Bank. He has also worked in corporate law, investment banking, and venture capital. A member of the New Jersey bar, Caspersen received his J.D. from Harvard Law School and his B.A. in Government from Harvard College. Valiant Insurance Hires New GC Valiant Insurance Group Inc. has hired Ursula M. Kerrigan as its new senior vice president and general counsel. Kerrigan's previous roles include director of compliance and chief counsel for Liberty Mutual's Liberty International Underwriters division, staff attorney at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, LLP, and associate general counsel for Gulf Insurance Group. |
