Orbitz Worldwide appoints new senior VP and GC Orbitz Worldwide has announced the appointment of Jim Shaughnessy to the post of senior vice president and general counsel. Shaughnessy will oversee legal and regulatory issues for the company. He has had more than 25 years' experience as a strategic legal executive, managing legal affairs for leading technology companies PeopleSoft, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo Group Ltd., and Compaq. Shaughnessy will report to Steven Barnhart, CEO and president of Orbitz. Orbitz Worldwide is a global leader in online travel. Stonebrook Capital Management hires new GC New York investment firm Stonebrook Capital Management, LLC, has appointed Paul A. Freilich as general counsel for the legal department. In his new position, Freilich will be responsible for all legal matters and compliance issues affecting the company. He has a strong legal background including expertise in the development of structured investments. Prior to joining Stonebrook, Freilich served as a managing director for the structured products division at Pali Capital, Inc., and before that, he was an executive director at UBS Warburg, LLC. Wagner hired as GC for Jackson Healthcare Solutions Jackson Healthcare Solutions (JHS) has appointed C.L. Wagner as its corporate general counsel. Wagner brings to JHS close to 40 years of corporate legal experience. He has worked for international law firm Hunton & Williams, LLP, for 19 years, and he served as vice chairman and general counsel for Lummus Corporation in 2005, as well as general counsel of Alimenta (USA), Inc. Wagner has also been a partner with law firm Hansell & Post. Jackson Healthcare Solutions, founded by Richard L. Jackson, has 300 associates in Alpharetta, GA, and 400 nationwide. The healthcare company serves more than 3 million patients in 1,000 hospitals every year. Marsh, Inc.'s GC nominated for federal judgeship Richard J. Sullivan, general counsel for Marsh, Inc., has received confirmation from the U.S. Senate of his nomination for a district judgeship in the U.S. District Court of the Southern District of New York. Sullivan stepped in as deputy general counsel for Marsh & McLennan Cos. (MMC) in July 2005 after serving the U.S. Attorney's Office in Manhattan for 11 years. He became general counsel for Marsh, Inc., in June 2006. Sullivan was also a federal prosecutor in New York for 11 years before joining Marsh in 2005. Orexigen Therapeutics appoints new GC Orexigen Therapeutics, Inc., has announced its hiring of Heather Turner for the post of vice president and general counsel. Prior to joining Orexigen, Turner served Conor Medsystems, LLC, in Menlo Park, CA, as associate general counsel, corporate. She has also worked as an associate at Cooley Godward Kronish, LLP. Turner has extensive experience in public reporting, disclosure issues, and compliance.
