GC of Bahrain's leading bank receives accolade Al Salam Bank's general counsel, Mohammed Paracha, has been included in "The Lawyer's Hot 100 List for 2007," a list of the top 100 international lawyers leading in their respective fields. Before joining the bank in 2006, Paracha was a partner at law firm Norton Rose and contributed significantly to the field of Islamic finance. Formed in January 2006, the bank is one of the leading financial institutions in Bahrain and works according to Islamic principles under the regulatory requirements for Islamic banks laid down by the Central Bank of Bahrain. New LexisNexis feature helps corporate counsel evaluate law firms A new version of Martindale.com, LexisNexis's website for finding data on legal professionals, will help in-house counsel evaluate law firms. The website will provide detailed information on law firms to corporate lawyers and increase traffic to firm websites. New features include "Activities Data," which provides detailed litigation and mergers and acquisitions information for individual law firms, and "Top 10" lists featuring the top 10 U.S. firms in a number of categories. Other new features that will assist corporate counsel include "Capabilities Data," "Snapshot Report," and "Enhanced Side-by-Side Comparison." A part of the LexisNexis group, Martindale.com sees more than 3 million searches monthly and provides enhanced networking and marketing resources to legal professionals. SEC names Associate General Counsel for Adjudication Joan L. Loizeaux, the Principal Assistant General Counsel for Adjudication for the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), has been promoted to Associate General Counsel for Adjudication. Loizeaux, who has served the SEC since 1992, has significant knowledge of adjudication and securities law. She has experience advising the SEC on appeals of decisions issued by administrative-law judges and by self-regulatory organizations. Prior to joining the SEC, Loizeaux was a partner at Hogan & Hartson, a partner at Reed, Smith, Shaw & McClay, and Assistant General Counsel for the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. |
