Fulbright attorney chosen as chief counsel for FAA Kerry B. Long has been named Chief Counsel of the Federal Aviation Administration. A partner at Fulbright & Jaworski, LLP, Long has more than 20 years of experience in the airline industry. He has also worked in Fulbright's transportation practice group, which deals with a range of federal regulatory agencies that have jurisdiction over transportation facilities. Established in 1919, Fulbright & Jaworski has 1,000 attorneys working from 16 locations across the globe. USEC GC to step down Global energy company USEC, Inc., has announced that Timothy Hansen, Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary, will step down from his position by the summer. Hansen, who is seeking a career change, will pursue an advanced degree in education along with his wife. Having served USEC since 1994, Hansen left the company in late 2004 and rejoined in early 2005. Hansen is a member of the senior management team and has significant knowledge of matters pertaining to the nuclear industry. USEC is a major supplier of enriched uranium fuel for commercial nuclear power plants. First Data's acting GC named executive VP, GC, and secretary David R. Money, who was appointed as the acting general counsel for First Data Corporation on June 20, 2006, has been named executive vice president, general counsel, and secretary for the company. Money stepped in as acting general counsel when Michael T. Whealy, First Data's executive vice president, general counsel, chief administrative officer, and secretary, met with an accident. Whealy has been on medical disability leave since the accident and will step down from his post on May 1, 2007. Prior his appointment as acting general counsel, Money had served as Deputy General Counsel for First Data since 2004, and before that, he held a number of important positions in the company's legal department. Prior to joining First Data, he was a partner in the law firm of Jones, Waldo, Holbrook & McDonough in Salt Lake City. A leading provider of electronic commerce and payment services, First Data Corporation has 4.9 million merchant locations. Erie Insurance appoints new GC James J. Tanous has been appointed Executive Vice President, Secretary, and General Counsel for Erie Insurance Group. Tanous, who succeeds Jan R. Van Gorder, comes from Jaeckle, Fleischmann & Mugel, LLP. At the law firm, he served as chairman of the executive committee and as a partner in its business and corporate group. He brings to the company more than 30 years of experience representing publicly traded companies. Tanous specializes in financing, mergers and acquisitions, antitrust securities, and regulatory matters. Based in Erie, PA, Erie Insurance Group is one of the largest automobile insurers in the United States. |
