On Monday, April 16, Michael Brizel joined the Saks, Inc., team, and on May 7, he will begin his new duties as the company's general counsel and executive vice president. The former general counsel and senior vice president for Reader's Digest, Brizel will be taking the place of Charles Hansen at the company, which is most recognized for its Saks Fifth Avenue department stores.
After Hansen leaves his position on May 4, Brizel will take over, reporting to chief executive Steve Sadove and working out of the company's New York office, as Saks is moving many of its offices from their current location in Birmingham, AL, to New York.

Brizel will manage all legal issues concerning the company's 54 Saks Fifth Avenue stores, 49 Saks Off fifth stores, website (www.saks.com), and Club Libby Lu specialty stores.
