Sandra Leung new senior VP and GC at Bristol-Myers Squibb Sandra Leung has joined Bristol-Myers Squibb Company as Senior Vice President and General Counsel. She will manage the company's legal department and also act as the primary legal advisor to its board of directors. Leung will report to Chief Executive Officer James Cornelius while continuing to serve as an executive committee and management council member. Leung has handled various responsibilities for the company since she joined it in 1992 as a staff attorney in the litigation group, eventually rising to become its interim general counsel in 2006. Earlier, Leung was an Assistant District Attorney for the New York County District Attorney's Office. Bristol-Myers Squibb is a global pharmaceutical company. Energy Transfer Partners hires energy lawyer from Vinson & Elkins Senior Vinson & Elkins Energy and Securities Partner Thomas P. Mason has joined Energy Transfer Partners, LP, as the company's new general counsel. Mason has had more than 25 years of experience and has worked on several Energy Transfer transactions. He also represented Energy Transfer Partners in its acquisition of Transwestern Pipeline Company. Mason focuses his practice on securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and energy-related transactions. Heller Ehrman shareholder joins FibroGen as VP and GC Biotechnology-based drug-discovery company FibroGen, Inc., has hired Sarah A. O'Dowd to serve as its vice president and general counsel. O'Dowd will be part of the company's senior management team and will oversee all of its legal matters. Prior to joining FibroGen, O'Dowd was at Heller Ehrman, LLP, where she worked for 25 years and was most recently a shareholder and a member of the firm's senior management. O'Dowd focuses her practice on finance, securities, and corporate governance matters. Lisa Pai new executive VP, GC, and corporate secretary for Center Financial Center Financial Corporation has hired Lisa Kim Pai to serve as its executive vice president, general counsel, and corporate secretary. With more than 15 years of experience as a general counsel and corporate secretary for leading financial institutions, Pai mainly concentrates her practice on the Korean-American community in the greater Los Angeles area. Earlier, Pai served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary for Pacific Union Bank for 11 years. From there, she moved on to Nara Bancorp, where she served as acting general counsel and corporate secretary. Established in 1986, Center Financial Corporation is a community bank offering a full range of financial services to diverse small-business customers. The corporation is the holding company of Center Bank, which specializes in commercial and SBA loans and trade-finance products. One of the nation's largest financial institutions, Center Financial Corporation focuses on the Korean-American community and has total assets worth $1.84 billion. MPAA hires Goeckner as GC The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) has elevated Gregory Goeckner, who will now be its executive vice president and general counsel. Goeckner, who was working as the association's acting general counsel, joined MPAA's legal team in 1994. Dan Glickman, MPAA Chairman-CEO, welcomed Goeckner and said that he was instrumental to many important decisions made by the company, including digital-transition and Grokster issues. In his new capacity, Goeckner will help to coordinate international and domestic litigation, copyright, ancillary rights, antitrust, legislation, and new technology legal issues, as well as compliance with government regulations, while continuing to provide legal advice and coordinate MPAA's legal services department. Vertis Communications hires new VP and deputy GC Vertis Communications has promoted David Glogoff, who will now serve as its vice president and deputy general counsel. In his new position, Glogoff will manage the company's everyday legal matters, including customer and vendor contracting, human resources support, litigation, real estate, environment and safety support, intellectual property, marketing support, and international legal issues. Widely experienced in the areas of business, finance, and environmental law as well as general litigation, Glogoff will play a major role at Vertis. Earlier, he served as a corporate associate in the business and finance group of law firm Smith, Stratton, Wise, Heher & Brennan. |
