New York Life announces new legal appointments New York Life Insurance Company has announced three promotions to top legal positions. Sara Badler, who oversees all legal issues pertaining to insurance products, regulatory exams, distribution, and mergers and acquisitions, has been named vice president and deputy general counsel. Dennis Gagnon, who will work on matters involving intellectual property, commercial law, commerce, and procurement, has been named vice president and associate general counsel. Robert Rosh is responsible for handling the distribution unit of the law department, as well as advising the agency department and NYLIFE Securities, Inc.; he will also serve as the company's vice president and associate general counsel. One of the world's leading insurance providers, New York Life has nearly $169 billion in consolidated assets. JPMorgan appoints Stephen M. Cutler GC Stephen M. Cutler has joined JP Morgan Chase & Company as Executive Vice President and General Counsel. He will also join the firm's operating committee. A former enforcement chief at the Securities and Exchange Commission, Cutler will supervise the bank's global legal and compliance activities. Cutler received 400,000 stock appreciation rights with an exercise price of $51.05. He joins JPMorgan from law firm WilmerHale in Washington, DC, where he served as partner and co-chair in the securities department. He is well known in both the public and private sectors, as well as in the legal and regulatory communities, for his integrity and excellent service. Sensus Metering Systems hires VP and GC Sensus Metering Systems has named Colin Flannery as its vice president and general counsel; he will assume his post March 31, 2007. Prior to joining Sensus, Flannery was Vice President of Legal for Atos Origin in Paris. Earlier, he worked with various Schlumberger businesses, including the company's electricity metering and AMR unit, and gained significant experience in the North American utility sector. Sensus Metering Systems provides various metering solutions for water, gas, electric, and heat utilities. Multimax has new VP, GC, and secretary Former Associate General Counsel of AAI Corporation Arleigh V. Closser will now serve as Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary for Multimax, Inc. Before joining AAI, Closser served as Assistant General Counsel of Anteon International Corporation and also worked at the law firm of McKenna, Long & Aldridge. A specialist in government contracting matters, Closser is co-chair of the Government Contractor's Forum for the Washington Metropolitan Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel. Louisiana energy company appoints senior VP and GC Cleco Corporation has appointed Wade A. Hoefling to serve as senior vice president and general counsel. Additionally, he will assume responsibility as director of regulatory compliance and manage the company's ethics and compliance functions. Hoefling brings to the company 25 years of legal experience in the energy arena. Prior to joining Cleco, he was General Counsel for Northeast Utilities Enterprises, Inc. Cleco is a Pineville, LA-based regional energy-services company operating a regulated electric utility company and a wholesale energy business. |
