CaseCentral introduces improved IT tools for GCs General counsels and in-house attorneys across the country will now have access to improved technology serving the dual purpose of improving efficiency and reducing company costs. Borland nominates senior VP and GC Borland Software Corporation, a solutions provider for application lifecycle management, has named Gregory J. Wrenn as its new Senior Vice President and General Counsel. With more than 15 years of experience in legal and corporate governance, Wrenn will be in charge of the company's legal department and will handle all legal matters affecting the company. Prior to this appointment, Wrenn worked for Openwave Systems, Inc., a leading independent provider of software-related services for communications, where he led a team of 30 employees and assisted the senior management and board of directors with legal matters, including corporate governance and reporting, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, and mergers and acquisitions. According to his employment agreement with Borland, Wrenn will receive a grant of 50,000 shares of restricted Borland common stock and an option to purchase 125,000 shares of Borland common stock. USA Truck promotes legal counsel to VP, Safety, and GC Arkansas-based USA Truck, Inc., has promoted J. Rodney Mills, making him the company's new Vice President, Safety, and General Counsel. Mills has provided the company with legal services for many years, both as a partner in Hardin, Jesson & Terry, PLLC, and after he was hired as internal legal counsel for USA Truck in 2004. Mills will be in charge of a newly formed operating department that will aim to create the safest work environment for driver employees, provide safe service to customers, reduce insurance and claims-related costs, and foster a top-to-bottom culture of safety throughout the organization. USA Truck is a medium-haul, dry-van truckload carrier that transports general commodities throughout the continental United States and parts of Canada. Corporate Realty Advisors appoints senior VP and GC Corporate Realty Advisors, which provides real estate advisory services to corporate clients, appointed Garrett Perdue Senior Vice President and General Counsel. The company intends to gain leverage from Perdue's respected reputation in the industry. A former member of the real estate litigation and land use section of Womble, Carlyle, Sandridge & Rice, PLLC, and the former government-relations liaison for Zebulon Alley and Associates in Raleigh, Perdue is licensed to practice before North Carolina state courts and the Fourth Circuit's federal courts. Abingworth appoints U.S. legal expert GC American legal expert John Heard has been appointed General Counsel for UK-based life science investment group Abingworth. Heard will be responsible for deal coordination and will provide legal assistance to the life sciences team with their investment program. Additionally, Heard will assist with legal matters pertaining to Abingworth's portfolio companies. Formerly, as Legal Counsel at U.S.-based Intel Capital, a venture capital investment arm of Intel Corporation, Heard was involved in several major capital financing deals across Europe and the U.S. As an associate in Washington-based Hughes, Hubbard, and Reed, Hughes also acquired significant experience with international financial law practice. Abingworth is an established venture capital firm dedicated to the life sciences sector on both sides of the Atlantic. The company invests in projects at all stages of development. Wolverine World Wide announces new GC Kenneth Grady has joined Wolverine World Wide as General Counsel and Secretary; in this position, he will report directly to Stephen Gulis, Jr., Executive Vice President and CFO. Grady will handle the firm's corporate affairs, such as licensing, litigation, acquisitions, and operations. Prior to joining the company, he headed law firm K.A. Grady, PC, in Massachusetts. He earlier served as General Counsel and Secretary for KB Toys, Inc., and has experience with both in-house and outside counsel positions.
