US Airways promotes Dhillon to Senior VP and GC Janet Dhillon has been appointed Senior Vice President and General Counsel of US Airways Group, Inc., replacing Jim Walsh, who is retiring. Managing all legal matters of the airline, Dhillon will also retain her post as the compliance officer. Having joined the group in August 2004, she was appointed Vice President and Deputy General Counsel in January 2005 before taking charge as the top lawyer in the company. A Tempe, AZ-based company, US Airways manages about 3,800 flights a day, serving people from the United States, Canada, Caribbean, Latin America, and Europe. Amegy Bank appoints new GC P. Allan Port has been designated General Counsel and Executive Vice President at Amegy Bank of Texas. Port has focused his career on tax, business law, acquisitions, contract work, litigation matters, employment, and some vendor disagreement issues. Amegy has more than $9 billion in assets and more than 80 locations in the state. Broadlane announces head of legal affairs Tim Biggio has been named new General Counsel for Broadlane, the procurement services company for healthcare. Biggio will administer all legal affairs of the company, including corporate matters, strategic and operational transactions, compliance, and litigation. Prior to his appointment as General Counsel, he was Vice President of Corporate Law and Deputy Chief Counsel at Dallas-based VarTec Telcom, Inc. Broadlane is engaged in providing clinical cost-management solutions, capital equipment, and labor and information management solutions for the healthcare industry. President of Respira Medical joins Alba Therapeutics Baltimore-based biopharmaceutical company Alba Therapeutics Corporation has named Roberto N. Allen, Esq., Senior Director of Legal Affairs and Corporate Counsel. Managing all legal matters of the company, Allen will focus on contract negotiation, intellectual property, and corporate finance issues. Earlier, he was President of Respira Medical, Inc., the respiratory and home healthcare provider. Alba Therapeutics is a privately held company focused on providing healthcare products for the treatment of inflammatory and immune-mediated diseases. GPO promotes IG to General Counsel The Government Printing Press (GPO) has promoted Inspector General Greg Brower to the post of General Counsel. He will replace Anthony Zagami, effective October 1. As an attorney, Brower has significant experience in the civil, criminal, administrative, and legislative arenas. This development comes at a crucial time when the agency is moving towards a digital information platform named "Future Digital System," which will help the agency in transforming the methods in which the GPO collects, validates, stores, and shares federal documents. GPO is entrusted with the responsibility for cataloging, producing, and preserving government information. SMECO appoints Board Attorney and GC Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative (SMECO) has hired Joseph R. Densford as its Board Attorney. He will assist on matters of the Cooperative's Certificate of Incorporation, Articles of Conversion, bylaws, and elections. Densford has experience as an Assistant State's Attorney and has served as the attorney for St. Mary's County, MD. The Cooperative has also hired Mark A. MacDougall as General Counsel. He will assist on all legal matters in the Cooperative's day-to-day operations with regard to structural, management, and business matters. Since 1998, MacDougall has worked as legal counsel and serves as the Cooperative's Vice President of Legal, Regulatory, and Government Affairs. SMECO is a member-owned electric cooperative serving more than 130,000 customers in four southern Maryland counties. |
