Northwest Airlines GC to retire Barry Simon, General Counsel of Northwest Airlines Corp., will retire June 30 for health reasons. Simon joined the company in October 2004 and has 30 years' experience in the airlines industry. Specializing in bankruptcy, he has been instrumental in bankruptcy filings at Continental and Eastern Airlines and was at Northwest when it filed for bankruptcy protection in September 2005. The world's fifth-largest airline, Northwest Airlines operates in 900 cities in 160 countries across the world. With 1,200 daily departures, it has hubs in Detroit, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Memphis, Tokyo, and Amsterdam. IT company has new GC AVIEL Systems, Inc., one of the largest providers of information technology services to the U.S. government, has appointed Jodee McGrath the new General Counsel and Ethics Officer. Bringing in a wealth of experience from the information technology and technical services industries, McGrath will provide legal support to AVIEL's various departments and manage a comprehensive ethics program for the company. AVIEL Systems, Inc., comprises of two subsidiaries, OPTIMUS Corporation and Performance Management Consulting, Inc., which have been serving the U.S. government since 1992. New GC at Danaher Jonathan P. Graham has joined Danaher Corporation as General Counsel and Senior Vice President. Moving from General Electric Corporation, Graham will report directly to H. Lawrence Culp, Jr., the President and Chief Executive Officer. Danaher Corporation is a leading manufacturing company, producing professional instrumentation, industrial technologies, and tools and components. McAfee releases General Counsel McAfee has terminated the services of its General Counsel, Robert Kent. The move is believed to be based on alleged misuse of employee stock options. Review of other option-granting practices is under process. McAfee is an NYSE-listed anti-virus software maker providing proactive and proven solutions around the world. New GC at Illumina Christian Cabou has been appointed General Counsel and Vice President of Illumina, Inc. He will be responsible for legal and intellectual property matters globally. Prior to joining Illumina, Cabou served as General Counsel of GE Global Research for five years and specializes in intellectual property, engineering, and corporate matters. Illumina produces advanced tools for the genetic variation and function and enables research in various fields, including life science and pharmaceuticals. Grisaru is new General Counsel at Noble Elizabeth Grisaru has been appointed Managing Director and General Counsel of Noble Environmental Power. She brings 20 years of experience in public and private sector law, specifically in land use and environmental issues, litigation, and energy matters. Earlier, Grisaru worked as Assistant Attorney General in New York, and then In-House Counsel for New York Independent System Operator. A Harvard graduate, she has law degrees from New York University and University of Cambridge. New GC at EntreMed Cynthia Wong has been appointed General Counsel, Vice President, and Secretary at EntreMed, Inc., a pharmaceutical company. Wong specializes in financing transactions, corporate governance, and federal securities laws. Earlier, she was a senior associate at Powell Goldstein, LLP, in Washington, DC. |
