Sears GC drives into Nissan Nissan North America, Inc., has named Scott E. Becker as Vice President and General Counsel. Succeeding Joy Murakami Crose, Becker will be in charge of the company's legal operations across the U.S. He comes from Sears Holdings Corp. and Sears, Roebuck and Co., where he was Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for its retail, services, and real estate operations. Before joining Sears, Becker served at numerous law firms in Chicago and has significant experience in litigation. A subsidiary of Tokyo-based Nissan Motor Co., Nissan North America has manufacturing facilities in North America, where it rolls out vehicles such as the Xterra SUV, Altima Sedan, and Frontier Pickup. EFJ names Donohoo Senior VP Robert C. Donohoo has been positioned as the Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary of EFJ, Inc. (NASDAQ: EFJI). With first-rate experience in managing a legal department, Donohoo was previously with i2 Technologies, Inc. as its Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary. He has also worked as an associate attorney at the law firm of Shannon, Gracey, Ratliff & Miller, LLP. Through its division—the EF Johnson Company—EFJ makes radio devices for government agencies, police departments, army, and mobile service providers. Its products include handheld and mobile radios, signal repeaters, and base-stations. Investment Banker hires GC from Genesee & Wyoming Adam B. Frankel has moved into Evercore Partners (NYSE: EVR Proposed) as Senior Managing Director and General Counsel. He was previously with Wyoming Inc. as Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary and helped set up the company's legal division, along with managing issues related to human resources and compliance. Frankel has gained a host of experience in corporate governance, transactional matters, and compliance. A major investment banking company, Evercore Partners advises its corporate patrons on matters including mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, divestitures, and strategic transactions. MTC promotes Shirley Sicilian to GC From her earlier position as Deputy General Counsel, Shirley Sicilian has been promoted to General Counsel for The Multistate Tax Commission (MTC). She will be serving the Commission on an array of advisory and deliberative boards, which include Kansas College Savings Legislative Task Force, Kansas Inter-Governmental Advisory Council, Technical Advisory Committee for Kansas Inc., Fiscal Focus Advisory Committee for Kansas Action for Children, and Kansas Public Employee Relations Board. Specializing in the area of taxation, Sicilian has also worked as General Counsel for the Kansas Department of Revenue. The Commission works to endorse equitable and competent administration of tax laws that affect multi-state enterprises and has 47 state governments as its members. New legal head for Sipex Stuart Schneck has been named General Counsel of Sipex Corporation, a leading semiconductor company. Having been consulting with Sipex since January 2005, Schneck will now administer all of the company's legal issues. Previously, he was Senior Vice President of Licensing/Strategic Alliances and General Counsel for Food.com, and he has also worked as Corporate Counsel for the WebTV business of Microsoft. Novel GC for Reichhold Reichhold, Inc. has announced the appointment of Edward R. Leydon as General Counsel. Serving as the Chief Legal Officer of Reichhold, Leydon will advise the top executives of the company on all legal issues and will also manage outside counsel. He joins the company from Schering-Plough Corporation where he was the Director of International Law for the pharmaceutical division.
