Wimmer named GC of Gannett Eminent intellectual property and media lawyer Kurt Wimmer has been appointed Senior Vice President and General Counsel to Gannett Co., Inc. Previously, Wimmer was a partner at Covington & Burling and served as a journalist. His fusion of journalism and law has led him to this prestigious position at Gannett. Wimmer's strengths lie in four areas: media law, communications law, administrative law, and the First Amendment. Gannett is a leading information- and news-gathering service in the U.S. and is well known for its newspaper, USA Today. SYSCO names Nichols as GC and VP Michael C. Nichols has been named Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary by SYSCO Corporation. Presently, Nichols serves as Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary. In his new role, he will oversee the management of the company's legal risks; provide advice on issues including mergers and acquisitions, contracts, and securities; and support the corporate governance duties of SYSCO's Board of Directors. SYSCO is a proven leader in the hospitality and food-service industry and caters to industries including restaurants, healthcare, lodges, and educational institutions. Gillette is new GC at Comstock Resources D. Dale Gillette has been appointed the new Vice President of Land and General Counsel at Comstock Resources, Inc. Previously a partner in Gardere Wynne Sewell's Dallas office, Gillette brings with him more than 30 years of experience in the energy sector. Apart from law firms, Gillette has also worked as corporate counsel in the law departments of Mesa Petroleum Co. and Enserch Corp. Comstock Resources, Inc., is a Frisco, TX-based Energy Company involved in oil and gas transactions, exploration, and development primarily in Texas, Louisiana, and the Gulf of Mexico. Ospraie Management names new GC Michael Fischer has been designated the new General Counsel at the $4-billion hedge fund group Ospraie Management, LLC. A former General Counsel at Sandell Asset Management, Fischer possesses extensive experience in handling private equity and hedge fund issues. He has also served various clients on domestic and international deals at the mergers and acquisitions group of Latham & Watkins. Ospraie Management, LLC, is run by Dwight Anderson, the founder and lead portfolio manager. The firm came into being in 2000 as part of Tudor Investment Corp. and later became independent in 2004. Lascell appointed legal counsel at AmberPoint Dan Lascell has been appointed as Vice President and legal counsel at AmberPoint, a provider of service-oriented architecture (SOA) management software. Lascell has tremendous expertise in software, intellectual property, and legal aspects in managing software companies—where he has more than a decade of experience. He brings to the company experience gathered from his previous positions at Corning as in-house counsel, webMethods as Vice President Legal Services, and DLA Piper and Hunton & Williams as senior attorney. Mack joins Main Street America Group Susan Mack has been appointed Senior Vice President and General Counsel by the Main Street America Group. Reporting to Tom Van Berkel, Mack will lead the legal department of the company, which is based in Jacksonville, FL. She was previously working at Transamerica Reinsurance as Vice President and General Counsel, where she managed all aspects of the company's legal matters. N.G.M. Insurance Company, Old Dominion Company, Main Street America Insurance Company, and M.S.A. Insurance Company are the four insurance carriers under the flagship Main Street America Group. TCF appoints new GC TCF has named Gregory. J. Pulles, Vice Chairman, General Counsel, and Secretary to the Board of Directors. Joining TCF as Executive Vice President and General Counsel in 1985, Gregory was elected Vice Chairman in 1993. Prior to his career at TCF, he practiced law in Minneapolis at Mackall, Crounse & Moore for 12 years before being appointed partner. A Wayzata, MN-based financial holding company, TCF has an asset base of $14.2 billion and has 455 offices through the U.S. Kodak announces Assistant Secretary Patrick Sheller has been elected Assistant Secretary by Eastman Kodak Company. Succeeding Sharon E. Underberg, Sheller will report to Laurence L. Hickey, Corporate Secretary and Chief Governance Officer. Presently, Sheller is serving as Chief Compliance Officer at the company and will continue handling his past responsibilities. Prior to joining Kodak, Sheller worked at McKenna & Cuneo in Washington, DC, where he focused his practice on antitrust and healthcare law. |
